INDIGENOUS COMMUNITY BASKETBALL LEAGUE ROUND 1

Indigenous Basketball Australia (IBA) and the Indigenous Community Basketball League (ICBL) aims to provide a pathway for participation and success for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youths and their communities. Aimed at under 14-year-olds, the ICBL competition runs across Australia and the Torres Strait Islands, with the first round for Victoria scheduled to tip off on Sunday, February 5, 2023.

Founded by three-time Olympian, NBA Champion and proud Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australian Patty Mills, the programs delivered by the IBA are centred by the core principles of culture, education, health, safety and wellbeing. ICBL is the first competition aimed at discovering, engaging, supporting, and empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youths in a safe and positive environment.

There is no cost to participate in the ICBL and the players will receive a uniform, a basketball and 8 weeks of coaching, after which a select team from the group will be flown to the Gold Coast for a tournament just after Easter. Included in the program is a free lunch before getting on court for the session.

All sessions are held at Narrandjeri Stadium (281 Darebin Rd, Thornbury)
