FAQs
What does my child need to bring to Hoops Camp?
Participants are required to bring a basketball, suitable sporting ware, runners, drink bottle, packed lunch and snacks (no nut products).
How are children grouped at camp?
Where possible, participants are grouped by age and skill level. Once a child is assessed by our coaches, they will be placed in an appropriate group to ensure they have the best experience possible.
Can my child be in the same group as their sibling or a friend?
Where possible we can group participants together but we also believe that Hoops Camp is a great opportunity for kids to develop new friendships.
How many coaches run the camp?
Banyule Hawks tries to ensure there are 2 lead coaches, 2 senior assistant coaches and 2 to 4 junior assistant coaches.
The lead and senior assistant coaches are all qualified coaches. Typically our junior assistants play with the Hawks in our junior domestic competition and are part of the Hawks Junior Coaches Development Program. All coaches have their ‘working with children’ check where required.
Can my child attend just one day of camp?
While most children attend both days of Hoops Camp, yes – children can attend only one day, and either day is fine.
Are parents allowed to stay and watch?
While we encourage you to drop off your children for the day (and obviously pick them up at the end of the session), parents are allowed to stay and watch from the sidelines. We just ask that you don’t go onto the court unless your are instructed or permitted to by a lead coach.
How do we sign in and out our children?
A registration table will be located in the entry of the basketball courts. Please sign in at the registration table prior to entering the courts, and sign out your child prior to them leaving the courts.
What is the payment and cancellation policy for Hoops Camp?
Payment must be made by PlayHQ prior to the first day of camp. Any other form of payment will not be accepted.
The cost for each child to participate in a camp is a set prescribed fee as provided upon booking. If the child fails to participate in whole or part in the camp there will be no refunds issued. Once the booking has been made payment is non-refundable.
What if my child is sick or injured and unable to participate on the day?
Please contact Allison via info@banyulehawks.com.au and we will call you about your circumstances. In the case of an unexpected illness or injury a refund may be issued. For COVID related reasons, prior to the first day of camp you may request a credit to a future camp if your child is unable to attend.
A 20% administration fee will apply for any refunds.
