RETURN TO PLAY UPDATE: FRIDAY 28th JANUARY plus MINI HAWKS TERM 1 registrations now open!!

Dear Hawks Families,

We hope you have enjoyed the summer break.

Training and match resumption

Training for the summer season will recommence at all venues this coming Monday, 31st January.

The first game back will be Saturday 5th February. The EDJBA have now sorted teams into final grades, the fixture for this first game back should be available soon.

Vaccination and Masks rules

See below the guidelines the EDJBA has provided for return to play. These rules also apply for all venues for training.

Requirements with our facilities have changed heading into 2022 with the introduction of the new Victorian Government Pandemic Orders.

The majority of our venues now have vaccination requirements of 18+ fully vaccinated to enter multi-purpose venues. The EDJBA will also adopt this vaccination requirement of 18+ fully vaccinated for admittance for all patrons.

As per Victorian Government requirements, all patrons over the age of 8 who are not actively engaged in an exertive role on court – whether as a player, coach or official, are required to wear a mask at all times indoors (unless they possess a valid medical exemption).

Please also continue to use the QR scan in codes at venues.

**NOTE: at the time of writing, ‘fully vaccinated’ is still considered 2 doses, not 3. There is some chance this will also change, but we will keep you posted.

EDJBA guidelines as of MONDAY 24th JANUARY 2022

RESTRICTIONSEDJBA COMPETITION
Reactivation StatusGREEN-COVID SAFE
Spectators AllowedYES*
MasksMasks mandatory for 8+ (unless they possess a valid medical exemption). A mask may be removed by a player, coach or official in an exertive role.
Vaccination Status / QR Code / Check-In18+ Fully vaccinated **

*Subject to change as some venues may still restrict spectators

** Some venues may run at their own stricter levels of vaccination

Exception: Latrobe University

Please note, Latrobe University, one of our main venues, is one example of a venue running at stricter levels.

They have set the limit at 16+ fully vaccinated for entry into that venue. This is on account of University specific policy.

Please ensure you are aware of this slight difference if you attend the venue for training or games.

COVID cases

With the increased number of community cases, and the return to school next week, unfortunately it seems there will be more positive cases within our basketball community.

If you attend training or a game, and your child subsequently returns a positive test, can you please ensure you advise your team contact, and the club (operations@banyulehawks.com.au) ASAP so we can advise other families, and the EDJBA if required.

If you require fill ins for your team on account of COVID cases, please contact Mel (operations@banyulehawks.com.au) and she can assist in making those arrangements.

Mini Hawks Registrations NOW OPEN for Term 1

Registrations are now open for our popular Mini Hawks program for Term 1.

This program will provide opportunities for younger children (5-8yos) to start developing some fundamental skills and knowledge of the rules of basketball. The environment is fun, encouraging and non-competitive.

The Mini Hawks program will run at the Macleod YMCA (157 Wungan Street, Macleod) for 6 weeks on Wednesdays and Thursdays in Term 4 and will be grouped into ages:
• Wednesdays 4:15 – 5pm from 16th February to 23rd March – this session is for 5-6yos – LIMITED TO 14 children
•
Wednesdays 5:10 – 5:55pm from 16th February to 23rd March – this session is for 7-8yos – LIMITED TO 14 children
•
Thursdays 4:15 – 5pm from 17th February to 24th March – this session is for 5-6yos – LIMITED TO 14 children
•
Thursdays 5:10 – 5:55pm from 17th February to 24th March – this session is for 7-8yos – LIMITED TO 14 children

The cost for the 6 weeks is $65 per child (including a $5 Basketball Victoria insurance fee which will be charged upon registration).

In PlayHQ there is just a single registration form. On the registration form you will need to indicate if you would prefer the Wednesday or Thursday session or whether your child can attend either afternoon. Children will then be allocated to a session and you will be notified via email before the 1st session. The earlier sessions of 4:15-5pm will be for children aged 5-6yo and the later sessions of 5:10-5:55pm for children aged 7-8yo.

Restrictions: Please note that the parent/guardian who attends the Mini Hawks sessions with your child must be fully vaccinated. The YMCA have advised that they will be checking vaccination status.

Please register via our website – https://www.banyulehawks.com.au/events/

We look forward to seeing you all back on the courts next week,
